Bringing it all together.

Work as a TeamThe ToolTwist controller helps your people work as a team. It's not uncommon these days for website responsibilities to be split across a department, across companies, or across the planet. The Controller acts as a centralised point of contact, allowing sharing of website resources.

Just as importantly, the Controller acts as a common point of understanding for individuals with different skill sets. For example, programmers can create new types of widgets, then just drop them in to the Controller, where they can be reused over and over by marketing, sales or other non-technical people to create websites. By acting as a go-between, the Controller removes many of the common points of misunderstanding.

Approval WorkflowsFirst impressions are everything. It's important that only authorized changes make it to your public website.

The Controller uses a approval workflow to ask the right people to authorize website changes. Different types can be configured to be approved from different departments or individuals. For example text may require approval from the legal department, whereas changes to advertisements may require product manager approval. The Controller allows each content libraries to be configured with different workflows.

Peace of MindIf a bug somehow gets rolled out to your production website, it's nice to know that you can return to a previous version by pushing a button. The Controller keeps track of every configuration used, and an authorized user can re-generate the website to any prior state.

Corporate ResponsibilityThe ToolTwist Controller is the watchdog of the production website. All website changes must be loaded into the Tooltwist Design Vault and pass through QA and approval workflows before they can be deployed on the live site. A full audit trail ensures that nothing gets through to production without leaving it's foot prints and passing through the correct procedures.

The ToolTwist Controller is normally run as a limited access "locked box". For extra security, security authenticating tokens
can be used to ensure that mission critical functions or configuration changes are only made by certified personnel.

ToolTwist can ensure that your web publishing procedures are in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley or other standards for corporate responsibility.

Automatic DeploymentThe ToolTwist Controller automates deployment to servers, seamlessly handling many of the tasks normally performed by an IT infrastructure team. Web sites can be quickly set up on a local server or over the Intranet, making ToolTwist is ideal for Cloud based hosting providers.

New servers can be set up in minutes, with specific options for Continuous Integration environments, Testing, Demonstrations, Quality Assurance, Staging and Production environments. This flexibility allows you to create server environments whenever you need them, then shut them down when you no longer need them.

Performance OptimizationsThe Controller is our "secret sauce", and the key to ToolTwist's ability to produce super fast websites. ToolTwist's page pre-generation removes the need to go to the database for many production pages. Generated code runs through multiple filters to improve it's performance. Some of these include: link validation, image compression, javascript optimization, javascript minification, automatic creation of sprites, CSS optomization, whitespace removal, and file compression.

Performing these optimizations by hand on a large website can take days. However, ToolTwist's automated deployment processor performs them in seconds.
